Junior Rock Band
Session 1: Mondays July 8 - August 5 1:00 to 3:00pm
Session 2: Tuesdays July 9 - August 6 1:00 to 3:00pm
Session 3: Monday-Friday August 12-16 12:00 to 2:00pm

This class is designed for any ability level to experience what it’s like to be in a real rock band! New students can also attend. There is one spot for a drummer, one spot for a piano player and several spots for vocalists, guitar players and bass players. Participants must sign up at least a month before the start of the camp and will be given music to learn with their regular teachers in their lessons. When the class begins the band will learn how to put all the parts together to produce a great sound as a group. They will also come up with a band name and logo! Families will be invited to a performance at the end of the last day and participants will go home with a recording of their songs.

This interactive and explorative class not only teaches the craft of music composition but encourages participants to feel like real composers. Students will learn to see music through a composer’s lens discovering what makes music — melody, harmony, rhythm, structure, and expression, and by way of the best music from history's genres — classical, jazz, American folk music, and musicals. They will compose their own songs, share their work with other students, and remain inspired having discovered their own unique creative spirit with the tools they have gained!

Summer art class—each day is a different art theme! We start off with a fun game, then students learn art techniques such as painting, drawing, paper crafts, clay, mixed media, etc. We have fun class days such as “You’re a Wizard Harry (all things Harry Potter),” “Monster Mayhem,” “Kit-Cat Club (for cat lovers)” “Fun At the Beach” and “Sparkly Slime Day!” From bubble painting to making marbled paper to creating wooden/bejeweled wands, all instruction and materials are included. Make new friends, learn art techniques, and take home finished art to enjoy!
